NOMEX®
It is a calendered paper, highly resistant to high temperatures, flames, organic chemicals, alkalis, bleaches and beta and gamma radiation.
Mechanically resistant, lightweight.
Temperature range: -269 – 400°C
Temperature class: H 180°C
Types: Nomex® 410, Nomex® 411, Nomex® 414, Nomex® 818, Nomex® 992, Nomex®993, Nomex®994, Nomex® 356
Use:
- As a dielectric insulator for high temperature systems
- Transformers, generators, turbine systems, hybrid electric cars
- Protective clothing for firefighters, police, army, astronauts, F1 pilots, etc.
Laminates made of NOMEX
NM – strong and heat resistant insulation
NMN – insulation with long-term thermal insulation
Dupont® Nomex® NM and NMN laminate is a duplex laminate made of calendered Nomex® paper bonded to a polyester film using a patented high temperature adhesive system.
This laminate is designed so that it does not laminate or block at high temperatures. The polyester film in this two-layer laminate contributes to high dielectric strength as well as good initial tear strength and tensile properties.
Calender paper Nomex® provides long-term thermal stability and improves tear strength.
NM and NMN can be feathered, shaped or punched.
